FAQs

We provide grants for education, recreational activities, social support and other activities, which benefit young people (up to 25 years old), who live in the Clydesdale area of South Lanarkshire.

Whilst we do not accept applications to support young people who live outside the Clydesdale area, we will consider applications from organisations based in other areas, provided it can be shown that the organisation is supporting young people in our target area.

We consider applications from community groups, not-for-profit organisations, and from (or on behalf of) individuals, you do not need charitable status to apply. Organisations need a constitution, bank account and have at least three committee members/office bearers to be considered for grants.

We do not consider applications from commercial organisations.

We do not accept applications to support young people who do not live in the Clydesdale area.

As we already provide an annual block grant to all four Clydesdale secondary schools, we may refer any applications relating to secondary school activities to each school. We have chosen to do this to avoid the risk of double funding activities to the disadvantage of others.

We do not make a distinction between capital and revenue project applications, however, our ability to fund large-scale applications is limited. Applications for more than £2,500 for individuals and £5,000 for organisations require the completion of a pre-application form before the Trust will consider a formal application. Please contact us if you wish to submit a pre-application form.

We meet six times per year to consider applications. The date of the next meeting is shown at the top of the page.

Yes. Whilst applications can be made at any time, an application requires to be received two weeks before it is to be considered at any meeting.

Individuals can normally apply for amounts up to £2,500.

Organisations can apply for amounts up to £5,000.

Applications over £5,000 for organisations or £2,500 for individuals please contact us for a pre-application form.

All applicants require to complete the appropriate application form available online in the Apply For A Grant page.

Alternatively, an application form can be printed off and completed and then emailed to admin@loaningdale.org.uk or posted to the Loaningdale School Companies secretary using the details shown on the Contact Us page.

In exceptional circumstances, we can fund up to 100% of eligible costs, though normally, direct fundraising efforts and applications to other funding bodies will be taken into consideration.

Successful applicants are expected to provide detailed estimates for any equipment included in the application, and are expected to retain receipts for 6 years. We reserve the right to see receipts during that time.

We welcome feedback or reports on activities we have funded. Any photographs sent to us for use on our website, should contain permission for us to use them for the purpose of spreading awareness of the Loaningdale grant scheme.

For grants over £5,000 organisations and £2,500 for individuals, a monitoring return form requires to be completed on project spend and outcomes.

Failure to follow the trust grant conditions will bar applicants from future grants.

A decision is usually made at the meetings of Trustees, where the application is presented. Meetings are held in March, June, September and December and the date of the next meeting is shown on the Homepage. Once a decision is made, the applicant should be notified within one week of the meeting.

We will consider repeat applications at the discretion of the Trustees, but may reduce the level of award for successive applications, unless the application is for a completely new purpose.
